| Grand China bundles SPX and TPX loops into California butterfly service |
July 20--GRAND China Shipping (GCS) plans on joining together its two transpacific services, the SPX and TPX, into a two-loop butterfly service.
The TPX service was commenced six weeks ago as a separate loop to complement the existing SPX service, reports Alphaliner. The newly merged SPX service offers a south China-California loop and a central China-California loop, on the following rotation of Xiamen, Hong Kong, Shenzhen-Yantian, Long Beach, Oakland, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Long Beach, Oakland and back to Xiamen.
The service will deploy nine ships of 2,700 TEU, alternating between the two loops, compared with the 10 ships that were planned for the two previously separate loops. The overall weekly service capacity is 5,520 TEU, the report added.
